About the village of Tazha / Accommodation

The village of Tazha is nestled in the southern slopes of the Triglav Massif in the central part of the Balkan Mountains. It is located 15 km from Pavel Banya, 15 km from Kalofer, 31 km from Karlovo, and 29 km from Kazanlak. This makes it a great starting point for a variety of trips in the Valley of the Roses and the Valley of the Thracian Kings.

Right next to the start/finish area, there will be a designated tent camping zone.

This year, guests and participants will have the option to rent tents from Rent-A-Tent.bg.
They will be present at the start/finish and will offer ready-to-use rental tents.
You can reserve your tent in advance here: Triglav Skyrun tent

Pavel Banya is one of the top spa and balneo centers in the Balkans, famous for its healing mineral waters.
Various hotels offer accommodation and access to spa facilities – Diana Mar 5*, Knyaz Pavel 5*, Sevtopolis 4*, Marconi 3*, and others. The town is located 16 km from Tazha.

Kalofer is the birthplace of Hristo Botev, where you can visit the museum dedicated to him.
It is also a starting point for hiking to one of the most popular Balkan Mountain huts – Rai Hut – and the highest peak in the range – Mount Botev.

Kalofer offers many places to stay, including hotels and guesthouses. It is located 15 km from Tazha.

Karlovo is the hometown of Vasil Levski, where you can visit his museum and several architectural monuments from the Bulgarian Revival period.

In Kazanlak, you can visit the Thracian Tomb, the Rose Museum, the History Museum, and other local attractions.

Tazha is home to one of the regional offices of the Central Balkan National Park Directorate, as the village is a main gateway to the most attractive areas in the southeastern section of the park.
From here begins the beautiful Tazhansko Gorge, forming the southeastern extension of the Djendema Nature Reserve, and convenient mountain trails also lead to the Sokolna Nature Reserve and Sokolna Hut.

From Tazha start the most direct hiking trails to the peaks Triglav (Kademlia) – 2,275 m and Mazalat (Zli Vrah) – 2,197 m.
Nearby mountain huts include:

  • Rusalka Hut (2 hrs)

  • Triglav Hut (3 hrs)

  • Tazha Hut (5 hrs)

Along the way to Tazha Hut, you can visit the Babskoto and Kademliysko Praskalo waterfalls.
Not far from the village, you can also find two natural landmarks – Praskaloto Waterfall and Tarnichensko Praskalo Waterfall.

The area around the village of Tazha holds many archaeological finds, proving habitation since Thracian times – a large number of Thracian burial mounds and golden coins have been discovered.

The "The Monastery" Fortress is an Early Byzantine stronghold located 5 km northwest of Tazha and Choeva Mound, near the Tazha hydroelectric power station.
Remnants of the fortress wall are preserved in the eastern section, reaching up to 2 meters in height above ground, and up to 1 meter in the western section.

In the village, you can find accommodation in several guesthouses.
